Pickleball has become the fastest growing racquet sport in the country, and many parks and clubs now share tennis courts with painted pickleball lines or have converted courts outright. Dedicated pickleball facilities, indoor and outdoor, rent courts by the hour and run open play sessions where players rotate in. Padel, played on an enclosed court with glass walls, is arriving in the Sun Belt and big cities; platform tennis (paddle) is a winter game on heated, elevated courts in the Northeast and Midwest; racquetball and squash live inside athletic clubs and YMCAs; badminton and table tennis have their own clubs in most metro areas. Equipment is cheap to rent or borrow for a first session at nearly all of them.

Mid feb in Chicago and Iβm feeling like prime Andy Roddick training out in SoCal. Using the replay function to capture my athletic prowess (cheap points against my gf whoβs better than me). But replay never lies. It was on the line. I get the W and advance for a chance at the title!

My favorite place in Chicago to play despite the fact that itβs pretty the courts are nice. The staff is great and thereβs lots of great people who play there so it has become my hub to meet up with my friends. Donβt tell them that.

First off: Shoutout to Vince for getting me a last minute slot in Intermediate Open Playβ so kind, so professional, as well as the rest of the staff. Thanks, Vince! The facility is large, clean, and the courts for the most part are perfect. The facilities lighting is more than good for the majority of the courts and I had no issue tracking the ball. Only problem I had was playing on the side that faces the windows, as the natural light filtering through the windows makes it pretty difficult to see when a ball is sped up, but thatβs why players should switch at six! Open play was well organized and for the most part, everybody was of equal skill level for both intermediate and advanced. They even have on court cameras that will clip highlighted points (which you highlight by hitting a button to the side of the court) which was MIND BLOWING for someone like me who is mainly a park player. Out of all the courts I visited in Chicago, SPF was by far my favorite! Canβt wait to be back!

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Sam for his exceptional assistance when I had to reschedule my reservation from last Saturday to this Saturday. Despite the scheduling mix-up, Sam stepped in to ensure our women's event turned into a more productive and enjoyable experience. He graciously included us in their women's pickleball league, where we had the opportunity to play alongside some truly talented players. Special thanks to those ladies as well; they are undoubtedly pros. Our experience transformed from novices to playing like the pros, thanks to their guidance. The womenβs pickleball league offers affordable classes, providing an excellent way to play, have fun, and connect with others. This is our second visit to SPF, and we find the venue to be very welcoming and a great place to socialize. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a good time and meet new people.
